This vintage oversize publicity photo from the 1935 Universal horror classic, “The Bride of Frankenstein” has been signed by star Elsa Lanchester.
The first (and arguably best) sequel to 1931’s “Frankenstein”, starring Boris Karloff as the Monster, brought Lanchester fame as she played the dual role of Mary Shelley and “The Bride”.
“The Bride of Frankenstein” is nearly as highly collected as is “Frankenstein”, with an original 1935 insert movie poster selling at auction for over $100,000 in 2010, and an original lobby card featuring Elsa Lanchester as the Bride fetching $19,0000.
Original studio portraits of Elsa Lanchester in costume as the Bride are also highly sought after, and autographed photos are among the most interesting.
