This is one of those weird and slightly disturbing vintage Halloween postcards which are so fun to see. Published in 1911 in Saxony, the card (no. 914) is titled “All Halloween Greetings”. Above the greeting is pictured an anthropomorphic pumpkin hot air balloon, piloted by a witch in a red costume. Smoke from a bonfire propels the hot air balloon skywards.
We sold this vintage Halloween postcard at auction for $90. Variations of this design with differing artwork and borders can fetch a bit more at auction depending upon the card’s condition.
