A very scarce example of this important collection of illustrations demonstrating everyday life in 19th century Egypt, which is accompanied by an equally important textual context.
This copy is one of the finest to come to auction. All 24 plates are in stunning condition. Folio (375 x 289mm.), half-title, lithographed map, 24 chromolithographed plates, each with a captioned tissue guard, publisher’s elaborate decorative cloth with morocco gilt onlays, and flat spine gilt.
