This incredible vintage oversize, double weight portrait of Gary Cooper shows the Hollywood icon holding a cigarette and leaning on a saddle, photographed circa 1941.
Gary Cooper signed and inscribed the photo to a Warner Brothers publicity man. Coop writes: “To Bob Graham – With about a thousand thanks and my very best regards, Gary Cooper, 1952”.
In the period that Gary Cooper autographed this photo, the film that became not only legendary within his own movie career but that of Hollywood cinema itself – Fred Zinneman’s Western classic “High Noon” – had been released to critical acclaim. “High Noon” went on to be nominated for seven Academy Awards, ultimately winning four Oscars and four Golden Globes.
