This beautiful portrait of Elizabeth Taylor dates to the early part of her movie career at MGM. Here, she was aged sixteen and already looking the part of the megastar she would become.
Taylor has signed and inscribed the photo “To Jonny, from Elizabeth Taylor”.
In 1947, Elizabeth turned 15 and MGM began preparing to morph her public image into a more mature one in anticipation for upcoming film projects for which Taylor would be a young leading lady rather than a child star. This portrait is one of those early photo sessions aimed at doing just that.
This autographed photo was consigned by the family of John Grubbs who worked in radio broadcasting and hosted a military radio show called “Youth on Parade” in Boston during the 1940’s. Mr. Grubbs acquired a large collection of autographed photos and signatures directly in person during radio broadcasts.
